Junior Infants

1st day of school for Junior Infants is 28th August 2017 from 8.40am to 9.40am

There will be lists on the notice-board with your child’s name, teacher and classroom. This is a “see your room, meet your teacher and make new friends session”.  The children will be going home at 9.40 am on their first day.

Preparation for first day:

Children do not need anything for school the first morning but a schoolbag and a light lunch.  All materials, books etc are provided by the school in due course.

After the first day:

The school day will be from 8.40am to 12 noon. This is our 2 week introduction to school for our new Junior Infants till Friday, 8th September. From Monday, 11th September the Junior Infant school day is from 08.40am to 1.20pm

The children will need a healthy lunch and probably a little nap in the afternoon after school. These early days in school are most important for our new pupils and much time will be for the children to get used to their new friends, teacher, procedures and exciting new environment.

Change of clothes:

We recommend that each child comes in to school with a change of clothes, including underwear, socks and a pair of tracksuit bottoms.  This is to allow for falls, spillages and other minor little accidents.  Please ensure that all clothes are labelled with your child’s name.

Please try and purchase a schoolbag and lunch box that your child can open and close independently.  Clothes and foot-wear should also be safe and easy for the child to put on and take off independently.

The school tracksuit is optional. They cost €25 each and start from size 22” upwards.  These are available from the school office on the 1st week of school.

Walking to school is a great option. Please consider doing so if you live near the school and circumstances permit.

Parking

Parking is not available in the school grounds.  We encourage parents to park in the Town Centre and walk to the school.  This is a short walk that only takes a few minutes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
