Newsletter – Thursday 28th April 2016

The school will be closed all of next week for the mid-term break. School will re-open for all on Monday, 9th May.
Details of school closures are posted on our calendar on the website.

Open Day

Open Day for next year’s Junior Infants and their parents was held on 20th April. We had a very good turnout on the day. Thanks to all who made the day a success.

Traffic safety in the car park

Many thanks to everyone for your continued cooperation with the new arrangements for the car park. The system is working very well so far – traffic is moving safely and promptly.
A very special thanks to the volunteers from the PTA who have been helping us with the task of monitoring access to the car park. Other volunteers would also be very welcome.

Warmer weather

As warmer weather approaches, it is a good time to think of encouraging children to walk or cycle to school. If children are cycling, they need to bring a secure lock to secure their bicycles.

 Resource money

If anyone wishes to commence payment of resource money for the next school year, 2016-17, please contact the office to make arrangements.

Pupil absences

If pupils are absent for any reason, please contact the school. It is particularly important to do so if children are going to be absent for an extended period, such as early summer holidays or returning back to school late after the summer. This communication should be in writing, preferably.

This is a very busy time of the year for school sports. Our cricket, soccer and girls’ football teams have all been in action lately and coaching is continuing for our hurlers.

Book fair

The Book Fair was very successful. Almost €5000 worth of books were sold during the week. The school library will benefit to the tune of over €2500 as a result. Many thanks to the PTA who organised and ran the Book Fair.

If you would like to buy some more books you can always do so at . When purchasing, you can then select Tyrrelstown Educate Together and we will receive vouchers which we can use towards buying more books for the school!

If you would like to help out the PTA in any way, no matter how big or how small, if you have any suggestions or ideas, please contact any member of the PTA or your child’s teacher who will happily put you in touch with the right person.

Contact details

It is very important to inform the school of any changes in contact details, including address, email address or phone numbers. Please ensure that we have up to date contact information so that we may contact you as required.

Catholic religion classes

The Catholic Committee would like to congratulate all pupils who are making their Confirmation on this Thursday, 28th April. They also wish to extend warm wishes to children making their First Communion on Saturday, 28th May.
