Science Fair

The science fair took place on February 15th and 16th of February. All 5th and 6th class children took part and entered some fantastic projects such as ‘DIY Makeup’, ‘Making Slime’, ‘Inflatable Science’, ‘Lava Lamps’, ‘Spinning Colours’, ‘Wind Powered Car’ and ‘Sweet Science’. All classes visited the science fair and a photographer from the Blanchardstown Gazette took photos for the newspaper also. The winning projects were ‘Pollination’ (5th class) and ‘Eggcellent Science’ (6th class), and the individual winners were Maria, Waffiya, Julius, Gian and Kayleigh. Easter Camp

There will be an Easter Camp this year in our school running from the 10th -14th April 2017. Every day from 10am to 2pm there will be a wide range of activities for children of all ages; sports, arts & crafts, drama games, team challenges and much more! Setanta

This month the children in Báetán’s class have enjoyed our swimming lessons every Thursday. Junior Infants

Junior Infants went to the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland on Monday and had a fantastic time. Lisa’s Senior Infant Class

Lisa’s class have been learning all about water and rain over the past few weeks. We learned the rain song and did lovely umbrella art. Mark’s Senior Infant Class

Mark’s class have been going on a bear hunt this week. They used all sorts of different props to help them look for the bear. 1st Class

1st class went on a trip to the Irish Museum of Modern Art where they saw some beautiful paintings. Bríd’s 2nd Class

We were learning about the work of different types of engineers. In class we worked together to create our own types of transport. Shona’s 3rd Class

To mark anti-racism month, Shona’s 3rd class wanted to have a day where they include everyone and make others feel happy by passing on their smile. Louise’s 5th Class

Louise’s 5th class have been very busy recently. We have been learning about World War 2 in history and read a novel about the war called ‘Friend or Foe’. We looked at some propaganda posters and newspaper articles from this time also. For Seachtain na Gaeilge, we performed a song called ‘Riptide’ as Gaeilge at assembly. We finished our swimming lessons and have been learning how to play cricket also with our cricket coach from South Africa. In Learn Together, we have been learning about 2 spring festivals –Holi and Pancake Tuesday. In English, we have been learning how to write different types of poetry – so far we have covered Haiku, Limericks and Black Out Poetry. We also participated in the science fair in February.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Francis’ 5th Class

Francis’ 5th Class have been exploring all different styles of poetry from haiku to limericks and calligrams to blackout poems! We have also enjoyed our cricket sessions for PE and learning all about the Vikings in History- did you know they didn’t actually wear helmets with horns? We have also been studying newspapers, have finished our class novel “Duck and Swan” by John Quinn and redesigned new covers with our own blurbs.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1475780129264{padding-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
