Fire Safety

Our school has been selected for a fire safety audit as it was one of the schools built under the Rapid Build programme. Educate Together are in regular contact with the DES, who have given assurances that the schools are safe. We take the safety of children, staff and visitors very seriously and will take whatever steps are required to continue to keep everyone safe. We welcome the fire safety audit as it will identify any remedial work that may be required.

The Press Release from Educate Together about fire safety is on our website.

We have heard reports of several schools being instructed to remove displays from corridors and reception areas as a result of fire audits. We are not updating displays pending receipt of advice from the Fire Officer about what is permitted and what is safe. This advice will inform how we display children’s work in areas other than classrooms.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1475781794776{padding-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Junior Infants

Our new Junior Infants have settled in very well and are getting very used to school routines. A big thanks to parents for your co-operation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Health

If your child is not well, please do not send them to school. Please inform the office to ensure that absences are correctly recorded.

If your child has any medical conditions or allergies, please inform the office.

We remind parents to continue to be vigilant about head lice. Head lice are extremely common among school-going children, particularly at this time of year. We ask that parents check their children’s hair regularly and take appropriate action if they notice head lice.

We have also received reports of ringworm. This is a fungal infection which can be treated with anti-fungal creams. It does not require children to be absent from school but may restrict their participation in certain activities, such as P.E., which may involve skin to skin contact.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1475780129264{padding-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Garda Vetting

The new Garda Vetting procedures are very strict and very clear. We can only allow parents who wish to escort tours, help with swimming, give talks to classes etc. if they have been Garda Vetted. The application procedure for vetting has been simplified considerably. The application forms are available from Julie in the office.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Going Home From School

If 2nd Class pupils are going home on their own, parents must write a note. Older pupils may make their own way home.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1475780129264{padding-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Resource Money

Many thanks to everyone who has paid Resource Money to date. If you have yet to pay your Resource Money, you may use the special envelope that was sent from the office, or you may use our online payment facility.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

School Tracksuits

School tracksuits (which are optional) are now available from the office. Tracksuits cost €25 each.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1475780129264{padding-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Car Parking

Thank you for your assistance with the Car Parking arrangements. The new procedures are working well and the Car Park is much calmer in the mornings and at the end of the school day.

Please note that with more people walking and taking bicycles, children need to cycle carefully and should have a lock for their bike. Children should dismount when they arrive and wheel the bikes in.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Communication between home and school

All pupils from 1st to 6th class will receive a new Homework Journal. There is a Parent/Teacher section for communication between home and school. Please arrange an appointment to meet with the class teacher if you have any school related concerns.

If a child is absent, please contact Julie in the office.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1475781794776{padding-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Contact Details

If any of your contact details have changed, please notify the office as soon as possible. This is particularly important as we regularly have to contact parents at very short notice.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
