Dear parents and guardians,
Apologises for the late email but you may be aware that earlier this evening the government announced that children from 3rd to 6th Class will be required to wear face coverings in school.
We have just received initial guidance on this from the Department of Education and a copy of this is now attached for your reference. Please read through the guidance carefully as the procedure comes in to place from tomorrow.
Unfortunately, this is short notice for children, parents and staff and we will make every effort to help the children adjust to this new reality in school. We will be seeking further guidance from the Department on the practical implementation of these measures and we will pass this information onto you as and when we get it.
You will note the guidance identifies scenarios where some children will be exempt from wearing a face covering and if any of these scenarios relate to your child please email us at info@tetns.ie and we will pass the message onto the staff working with your child.
It is a real shame that the government feel they have to take this decision but as we have with all the other protocols we have been asked to implement, we will try our best to make the children as comfortable as possible.
Warmest regards,
Tim
