Calendar

A revised Language Curriculum is being introduced nationwide from this year. As part of this, in-service training is being provided for teachers. Our school has been given the 2nd of March for this training. The school will be closed for pupils on this date.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Junior Infants 2017 – 18

Swimming

Swimming classes will be commencing on Monday and Wednesday of next week. Notes have been sent out indicating which classes will go on each day.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Timekeeping

We understand that traffic and other circumstances can cause anyone to be late occasionally. Young Scientists

On Friday last, nine children from 5th Class brought their project on the possibility of human colonisation of Mars to the Primary Science Fair at the Young Scientists Exhibition. Their project attracted great interest on the day and they impressed the judge. We will post extracts from his report on the website shortly.

Geography Week

Head lice

We remind parents to continue to be vigilant about head lie. Head lice are extremely common among school-going children. We have had a number of reports from parents regarding head lice in recent days.

We ask that parents check their children’s hair regularly and take appropriate action if they notice head lice. Junior Infants

This week Junior infants have started GAA with Larry where lots of fun was had.

Room 4 are preparing for Chinese New Year. We have a Chinese Restaurant where we cook and serve noodles with chopsticks. We’ve been practising Chinese writing too. Senior Infants

Senior Infants have been taking part in the Mighty Mouth programme and have been learning all about how to take care of their teeth. All our Senior Infants got a new toothbrush and even toothpaste to help them practice. Remember to brush every morning and especially every evening! Ciara’s 1st class

In Ciara’s class we are learning all about water safety before we start swimming lessons next week which we are very excited about. We can now play new tunes on the tin whistle. We are  learning all about the importance of healthy eating and creating our own food pyramids.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Claire N.’s 1st class

Claire’s class finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate factory and designed their own factories. Karen’s 1st class

This week we have been building towers with cubes. Denis’s 2nd class

Bríd’s 2nd class

We have been learning lots of cool facts about Antarctica. We learned about some of the animals that live there and are creating our own animals that can adapt to life in the cold. Shona’s 3rd class

Shona’s third class as been a hive of activity this week as the children edit and proof read an extract their favourite story to publish on the website next month!

5th class

5th class have been busy this January learning about the solar system in science. We went to the Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS last Friday to see lots of great science projects and see the project that Elaine entered with some of our students. Francis’ class have been working on their novel ‘Duck and Swan’ and listening and responding to music from movies. Louise’s class have been reading their novel ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ and learning about newspaper articles in team teaching.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”46394″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
