At the beginning of the new school year we welcome back all of our children, including our new junior infants and others who have joined other classes. During the year, we will be sending regular newsletters to keep you informed of events in the school.
We have been having difficulties with our website due to circumstances beyond our control. These were of a technical nature but have now been resolved satisfactorily. Updates to school information will be available on www.tetns.ie. We are also on Twitter @TETNSnews.
Coming to school
All children (except Junior Infants) should assemble in the school yard at the back of the school from 8.30am. Punctuality is very good. Our side entrance to the yard is narrow so if a pupil is not in the yard by 8.40am they should use the main front door.
On rainy days, pupils other than Junior Infants enter through the door beside the staffroom. As many children will be using this door, we ask that everybody helps to avoid congestion. In general, children should just be brought to the door by parents.
With more people walking and taking bicycles, children need to cycle carefully and should have a lock for their bike. Children should dismount when they arrive and wheel the bikes in.
Going home from school
Pick up time is at 1.20pm for infants (Junior Infants are collected from their classes) and 2:20pm for older classes. Infants to 2nd class pupils should be collected by an adult. Until Friday, 16th September, pick up time for Junior Infants will be at 12.00 noon.
If 2nd Class pupils are going home on their own, parents must write a note. Older pupils may make their own way home.
Lunches
We have a healthy eating policy in our school. Healthy snacks are best for your child. Some suggestions: fruit, vegetable slices, cheese, crackers, or a small sandwich. Foods such as chocolate, sweets, crisps and biscuits are not recommended. Your child will be having 2 breaks in school, so please ensure that s/he has enough (and not too much) food to eat and a drink.
Yard/Play
Your child will be going outside to play. A suitable coat/jacket and shoes/runners are required. (No high-heel shoes or “wheelies” please.)
Lost property may be reclaimed from outside the office any day.
Resource money
Resource money is due. Special ENVELOPES have been sent home for those who choose not to use the online payment facility.
School tracksuits
School tracksuits (optional) will be available from the office between 10.00am and 12.00pm. Tracksuits cost €25 each. Limited supplies are available.
Communication between home and school
All pupils from 1st to 6th class will receive a new Homework Journal. There is a Parent/Teacher section for communication between home and school. Please arrange an appointment to meet with the class teacher if you have any school related concerns.
If a child is absent, please contact Julie in the office.
Junior Infant parent meeting
Teachers of Junior Infant classes will meet with parents on Monday morning, 12th September, at 11.40am. Details will be sent separately.
Beach Day 2016
This year, Beach Day will take place for all classes from 1st to 6th on Tuesday, 20th September. Infants and Setanta will have their Beach Day in June.
