End of School Year
Friday, 29th of June will be the last day of the school year. School will open as usual at 8.40am, but will close at 11.40am. School will re-open for classes on Wednesday, 29th of August.
Parents who wish to pay Resource Money for 2018-19 before the end of the school year should contact the office to arrange this.
Report Cards will be issued on Monday next, 18th of June.
Our annual Sports Day will take place on this Friday, 15th of June. Events will commence at 10am. As it is a normal school day, children should come to school at the usual times. They will be brought to and from the events by their teachers. We are very grateful to the PTA for their help, and to Tyrrelstown GAA for use of their pitch on the day.
The children should not bring money to Sports Day.
Children should be collected from the school.
As the events will take place outdoors, please ensure that your child has sunscreen and a bottle of water.
Beach Day was a great success last Friday. It was obvious to all that the children enjoyed themselves immensely. We are very proud of them for the care they took to leave the beach in very good order before we left.
Active Schools Week
Active Schools Week is currently underway. Activities are organised for each day during the week. Children are participating very well in the events. Many thanks to the teachers who have organised a stimulating and enjoyable range of events for the week.
If families are taking holidays early, please contact the office to notify us of the reason for the absence.
If your child is leaving the school and not returning for 2018-19, please inform the office so that communication can be made with the new school.
Graduation for our two 6th Classes will take place on the evening of Tuesday, 26th of June. This event is by invitation only.
If any of your contact details have changed, particularly phone numbers, please notify the office as soon as possible. This is particularly important as we regularly have to contact parents at very short notice. We also need the names of people to contact in the case of emergency.
We will be starting a new Rainbows programme for children in Tyrrelstown ETNS this coming September.
Just to remind you, Rainbows is a peer-support programme to assist children who are grieving a death or separation in their family. It provides a safe setting in which children can share their feelings, emotions and struggles with others who have similar experiences. They are supported in this process by a trained facilitator.
For your child to attend rainbows one parent will need to meet the Rainbows Coodinator and fill in an application form. This is a FREE service. Please contact Niamh Duffy or Marian Reilly for more information.
I am coming to the end of my four years in TETNS and will be retiring at the end of the school year. I want to express my gratitude to everyone in the school community who has worked so well to make our school a wonderful place for everybody, including children, staff and members of the wider community. It has been a privilege for me to have been part of the life of the school and I will take very fond memories with me into my retirement. Sincere thanks again to everyone and the very best wishes for the future.
I would like to extend my gratitude to all the children, staff and parents I have been privileged to work with since September 2009. Tyrrelstown ETNS is a fantastic, vibrant school. I leave this wonderful school knowing that I can take many positive memories with me. It has been an absolute pleasure to work in this school with children and staff who embrace respect and kindness.
As I move on to a new principalship in Rush & Lusk ETNS I wish everyone in the Tyrrelstown ETNS community all the best.
