Workbook Collection

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Dear Parents / Guardians,

As you may be aware, from 18th May, the government has given school staff permission to access the school building for the purposes of collecting resources etc. to support remote learning.

One of the other options we now have since the easing of some restrictions, is to possibly distribute some books to parents should they wish to collect them. In an ideal scenario we would like to give out all books to parents and invite you into the building to collect them but this is not possible and something we cannot facilitate. What we can do is carefully plan for distribution of some books on a phased basis over the course of Monday 25th May. We will be waiting until next week to do this as work has already been set for this week, staff need time to organise the distribution of books and St. Luke’s are also doing similar and we don’t want to be responsible for large foot fall on the campus the same day.

The staff will be organising workbooks and copybooks into individual bags for your children and you will be able to collect them at the times designated at the bottom of this email. At this point, we will not be sending home textbooks as they are rental books which need to be passed on to different students next year and as there is a low risk of cross contamination we don’t want to take any unnecessary risks. Copies of these textbooks can continue to be accessed for free online.

Procedure for collecting your child’s books (weather dependant)

Timetable – Monday, 25th May 2020

  • Junior & Senior Infants – 9:30 to 10:00
  • 1st & 2nd Class – 10:30 to 11:00
  • 3rd & 4th Class – 11:30 to 12:00
  • 5th & 6th Class – 12:30 to 13:00

**** If you have more than one child in the school we will leave the older children’s books with the teacher of your YOUNGEST child. For example, if there are two sisters in our school, one in 3rd and another in Senior Infants, you can collect the 3rd class child’s books from the Senior Infant teacher****

Collection Points

Due to social distancing requirements, collection points will be from tables, labelled per class, on the pathway outside of the front of the school building. This will need to be done on a strictly collect and leave the campus basis for safety reasons. When collecting the books please remember:

  • to maintain a 2 metre distance from all other people
  • to send one parent only to collect books
  • to not socialise with others within the school campus or gather in small groups
  • to park outside the school campus as the gates will not be open

I know the above collection procedures are very strict but the health & safety of parents and staff are our number one priority and this cannot be compromised for any reason.

Unfortunately, we will only be able to facilitate book collection on this one date as previously planned remedial works are to commence on the building and we will not have access to the campus. These are works that were planned to be undertaken over Easter but due to Covid19 restrictions they could not go ahead. If you cannot make it on the day you can nominate someone to go in your place and we will give the books to them.

Finally, should the weather go against us for Monday, we will text you as soon as we can to cancel and reschedule for a better time.

Hopefully, things will go smoothly on the day and I am sure everyone is happy to take responsibility for following the above procedures in the interest of making things as safe and easy as possible on everyone else.

Take care,

Tim[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
