| Curriculum Meeting for Parents | Thank you to all the parents and guardians who were able to attend our recent Curriculum Meetings. It was great to see so many people there and we hope you found it informative and helpful in terms of how typical school days run at TETNS.
During your walk around the school building you will have noticed all the excellent art and design all of the children and their teachers have been doing over the last few weeks. A huge collective effort has been put in to getting the school looking colourful and vibrant again and we are delighted with the results so far! |
| Special Assembly for parents to attend | We will be hosting a special assembly for children and all parents / guardians in the school on 17th October 2019 at 8:30 am. The assembly be used to celebrate Culture and Diversity with entertainment from the whole school. More details will follow next week once we have finalised our format for the day. |
| Aladdin Connect | We have officially launched Aladdin Connect and parents / guardians should have received a personal passcode from the school. If not, please contact us. As explained previously, downloading the app is optional and not a requirement. It will however, be a convenient platform for parents / guardians to communicate with the school and access information about their children. As mentioned at our Curriculum Meetings, you and your child’s information can only be viewed by you and not anyone else. |
| Musician in Residence | We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a grant from Fingal to have a specialised musician come to the school over the course of the next two years. We are currently in the early stages of organising how this will operate but it is fantastic news for the school. |
| Resident Artist | Great news, our resident artist Ann is back with us again this year and she is working on a fantastic idea for a mural within the school building. |
| Assembly | This weeks Senior Assembly “Line of the Week” winners are Louise’s Class and “Class of the Week” is Karen’s Class. Congratulations to all the children for their huge effort. |
| GAA Blitz | The GAA Blitz scheduled for yesterday has been cancelled until next Thursday, 10th October. |
| Resource Money | Any parents who wish to pay the Resource money for the 2019 / 2020 academic school year please pay online or contact the school office. |
| Rainbows | Rainbows Ireland is a free, listening, peer, group support service that provides support for children from the age of 7, after they have experienced a Parental Separation and or Bereavement. When significant change and loss happens in a family, the entire family can be affected including children. Children generally find it difficult to understand their feelings and often do not have the words to say how they feel. Rainbows provides group support for children of a similar age and loss experience. Meeting others in a similar situation can be very supportive for children. Rainbows is not a counselling group or professional therapy. Tyrrelstown ETNS provides this service to children attending our school. Staff at our school have undertaken the training to become a Rainbows Volunteer Facilitator. If you would like more information on the availing of this service please contact the school office. |
| Head lice | There has been some reports of lice lately and we would ask parents check their children’s hair regularly and treat if required. |
| Junior Infants Hearing / Vision & Vaccinations | The forms from the HSE will be sent home Friday 4th October for parents to complete. If you wish your child to be tested and vaccinated please complete this form and return by Monday 7th October. If you do not want your child tested or vaccinated sign the sections NO, I DO NOT CONSENT and return to the school. |
| Contact Details | If any of your contact details have changed, particularly phone numbers, please notify the office as soon as possible. This is particularly important as we regularly have to contact parents at very short notice. We also need the names of people to contact in the case of emergency. |
